Antique VF Cerveny Rotary Valve Flugelhorn

$2800

Pre-1900s Cerveny 4-valve rotary flugelhorn with a change valve from A to Bb. Instrument appears to be solid with no major repairs.

I believe this is an 1873 patented feature of Cerveny instruments, their Walzenventile, or “roller valves”. This roller valve mechanism is basically rotary valves that have been rotated 90 degrees from their typical position. This was done to simplify the mechanism, by increasing the mechanical advantage of the lever system. The 1873 patent also covered the spring tension adjusting screws, seen in this example as well. This mechanism was an extra cost option on their higher grades of instruments. Additional pictures available upon request. Case included (not original). No mouthpiece is included with this instrument.

This instrument is on consignment in our shop and is being offered as is with no returns, and with no work done to the instrument.

Local pickup for free. Will ship domestically for an additional $35 or internationally for an additional $150.
